Leshten from the slope below the village
A stone house in Leshten with five rooms, five stoves and seven chimneys.
Seven Chimneys is a stone house from 1871 on the top lane of Leshten, a Rhodope village of slate roofs and cobbled paths.
It has five guest rooms. Each has its own wood stove, and each stove has its own chimney through the slate. The other two chimneys belong to the kitchen hearth and the fireplace in the common room.
Breakfast is cooked on that hearth: eggs from next door, sheep’s yoghurt, Rhodope honey and patatnik, the village potato pie.
From October to April every stove is lit at five in the afternoon, so your room is warm before you are back from the walk.
